miracle, devoting her holiday to those less fortunate. Every year –
come snow or sleet – Rennie can be found in the Scott Mission kitchen
helping cook and serve the hungry and the homeless at the annual
Christmas Day lunch.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Scott Mission! Volunteers play a big role in many of our ministries and we are pleased you have an interest in joining us.
There are many ways you can help at The Scott Mission. Our volunteer opportunities are listed below:
Our volunteer positions are filled until October 2010. Thank you for your interest; please visit our website again for our up-to-date needs.
Kitchen: Daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Prepare and serve hot meals for poor and needy people through a variety of programs.
Childcare: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Assist staff a few hours per week with children ranging in age from 18 months to eight years old in the Mission's Childcare Centre. This is a position where committed Christians support Mission staff in providing a faith-based curriculum. The Scott Mission conducts a criminal reference check for Childcare volunteers that can take up to eight weeks.
Food and Clothing Bank: Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Sort and bag food and clothing for the Food Bank and clothing rooms.
Bag Lunches: Monday to Friday from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. Set up work area, greet recipients in a friendly manner and distribute bag lunches to all in need.
Men's Fellowship & Worship Time: Tuesdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Set up tables, participate in pre-service prayer, prepare and serve refreshments and assist with cleanup.
Overnight Shelter: Monday to Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Responsibilities include : setting up beds, serving dinner and providing general assistance and Christian fellowship for men who stay at The Scott Mission’s 45-bed shelter. Volunteers must be over 18 years old. The Scott Mission conducts a criminal reference check for Coffee Shop volunteers.
Please note that there is a process to becoming a volunteer at the Mission which can take 3-5 weeks. This includes reviewing your application, conducting an interview, reviewing references (and, where applicable, a criminal reference) and providing you with an orientation. The length of time varies depending on the season and the volume of applications that are submitted. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process but are confident that, once on board, you will have a fulfilling volunteer experience with us.
