At Scott Mission, we are dedicated to spreading Christmas joy through a series of heartwarming events that bring our community together to bless those we serve. Thanks to generous donors, our Christmas Program delivered the following to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families this Christmas.
2,700 Families Supported at Christmas Â
This Christmas, we were thrilled to support thousands of families during the Christmas season. Each family received essential groceries, a grocery gift card, toys for their children, and boots and coats for children as needed. These families were so thankful for the much-needed support during the holidays, which is one of the most difficult seasons for families who are struggling to get by. Thank you for bringing smiles and for delivering hope and joy to our neighbours at Christmas! Â
1,600 Children Receive Christmas ToysÂ
One of our most cherished traditions is the Christmas Toy Room. Each year, we transform a space into a magical toy room filled with gifts for children of all ages. Families in need are invited to come and choose toys for their children. Thank you to our kindhearted donors whose LOVE delivered Christmas smiles, joy, and dignity to the parents and 1,600 precious children.
4,000 Christmas Grocery BagsÂ
This Christmas, with the support of our generous donors, we provided thousands of grocery bags to individuals and families in need. These grocery essentials were to help families so they could enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones. The smiles and gratitude we received in return were the greatest gifts of all.
142 Coats and 132 Pairs of Boots
The harsh winter months can be particularly challenging for those who spend a lot of time outdoors without warm coats and sturdy waterproof boots. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to bless our shelter residents with the gift of warm clothing this Christmas.
32,500 December Meals & 400 Meals on Christmas DayÂ
Throughout the month of December, we served thousands of hot meals to those who are hungry in our community. Then, on December 25th we served a delicious Christmas lunch to more than 400 community members. This event is more than just a meal, it’s a chance to provide comfort and companionship to those who are alone and struggling to get by in our community. Staff and volunteers come together to prepare and serve the food – creating an atmosphere of love and hope for those we serve.
Community Christmas CelebrationÂ
Our Community Christmas Celebration is a time for fellowship, fun and celebrating the birth of Christ. We gather together to enjoy a festive program that includes music and performances by staff and community members. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community and our staff to connect, share stories, and create lasting memories. At this event, our community enjoys festive food and lots of fellowship, which brings everyone together to celebrate the joy of Christmas. Cynthia, who works on the frontlines everyday had this to say about the event, “Our Christmas celebration was a success because His presence was so tangible, and it ministered to each person. Once again, He performed marvelous works in the lives of those we serve.”
