Easter Hope for Neighbours

By April 3rd, 2025No Comments

I always feel such a sense of hope as the Easter season begins. The first signs of spring are full of beautiful reminders of the hope we have because Jesus died for us. His death and resurrection are the reason we can proclaim that hope is not lost for anyone! There is always an opportunity for a fresh start and the message of Easter is a wonderful reminder of that truth.

Every day at Scott Mission is a day where someone comes to our door looking for a hot meal, food to feed their children, clothing for a job interview, or a shoulder to lean on for comfort—and Easter is no exception. We love to serve our neighbours in whatever way possible, and to share the truth of who Jesus is when he said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)

Because of your amazing partnership through prayer, your time volunteering, your donations, and so much more, we are able to share the good news of Jesus Christ, while attending to the needs of our community. What an amazing gift we can give, especially at Easter!

Everything we do together—every act of love—is entirely fueled by your generosity. There are many urgent needs we face in the weeks leading up to Easter, and it’s your compassion that will impact neighbours who are struggling with unemployment, hunger, homelessness, and other hardships that make it difficult to provide for themselves and their loved ones.

Because you care, our neighbours in need will receive the following this Easter season:

  • 32,500 Easter Meals
  • 3,800 Bags of Groceries
  • 3,180 Clothing Bank Appointments
  • 3,550 Nights of Shelter
  • 130 Counselling Sessions
  • 67 Medical Appointments
  • Community Easter Celebration Event

Thank you for making new beginnings and transformation possible for the neighbours we serve each day. Let’s rejoice together in the miracle of the empty tomb and in the hopeful promise of the resurrection. Everyone here at Scott Mission wishes you a blessed, happy, and healthy Easter as you celebrate our risen Saviour.

Blessings,

Peter Duraisami, Chief Executive Officer
