Sometimes it’s difficult to understand how much the most vulnerable across the GTA are suffering, and how big of a difference a hot meal and a place to belong on Thanksgiving really does make.
Neighbours like Michael who shares, “I’m sleeping on the street now , in a park underneath a tree.”
Despite being homeless, celebrating Thanksgiving last year, at Scott Mission made Michael feel blessed. “This is huge,” he says looking at this full plate. “I’ll eat this all day.”
It isn’t just the meals that bring Michael to the Mission. “I always feel like I have a place to come and talk to people and they will pray with you,” Michael says. “It makes me feel like I got a new family here.”
Thank you for sharing your blessings at a time when our neighbours are struggling more than ever before. “If it wasn’t for Scott Mission, I’d be out in the cold today – on the street with no food,” Michael says.
This Thanksgiving, the Mission will be serving a delicious Thanksgiving meal to between 400 and 500 Toronto neighbours, who will find a place at our table. Guests will also receive this card of encouragement from generous donors who help us provide meals every single day of the year.
Together with our neighbours and with YOU, our compassionate donors, we say with grateful hearts, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His mercy endures forever!” – Psalm 107:1
Thank you and God bless you!
