At Christmas, moments of kindness can mean everything—especially for families who are quietly carrying heavy burdens. This past Christmas season, your generosity helped bring comfort and joy to moms like Zorayda, who visited Scott Mission to receive extra food support and gifts for her children.
Zorayda and her husband came to Canada from Mexico in 2018, hopeful for a better future for their family. While her husband works hard to provide, making ends meet remains a daily challenge. With five children to care for, Zorayda stays home full‑time, to care for the children, but the family continues to feel the strain of rising costs and limited resources.
During the Christmas season, the support Zorayda’s family received from Scott Mission brought much‑needed relief. Her children’s faces lit up as they received toys—simple gifts that brought joy and laughter. Alongside the toys, food support helped ease a financial pressure that so many families experience across our city. “I am so thankful for the food and everything we receive from Scott Mission,” Zorayda shares. “We would never be able to afford to buy toys for the children for Christmas, and these put big smiles on their faces.” For Zorayda, this support was about more than food or gifts. It was a reminder that her family is not alone.
Sadly, Zorayda’s story reflects the reality faced by thousands of families across our city who are doing everything they can to care for their children while struggling to provide basic necessities like food and clothing. It is because of compassionate donors—people who choose to care—that Scott Mission is able to walk alongside families in these moments of need.
Every day, Scott Mission welcomes neighbours with warmth, dignity, and the love of Christ, offering practical help and compassion to those who need it most. Because of you, families like Zorayda’s experience hope not only at Christmas, but throughout the year.
Thank you for being part of this life‑giving work. Your generosity brings comfort, restores dignity, and offers hope to moms and families who need a helping hand.
“…serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13
