Oftentimes, the journey to renewal can start with something as simple as a hot meal and a warm bed.
Meet Fred — a neighbour who once faced homelessness but who is rebuilding his life through the compassion of caring friends like you.
After being abroad in the Philippines for more than a decade, Fred returned home to find the cost of living in Canada had skyrocketed. Almost overnight, the basic things we take for granted — a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, simple necessities all became impossible for him to afford.
Without close family or a support network to lean on, Fred had nowhere to turn until someone told him about Scott Mission. “I didn’t realize it was going to be that tough,” he says. “I thought I could survive, but almost right away, I knew it was impossible. I’m very thankful for Scott Mission.”
At Scott Mission, Fred found more than just shelter — he also found compassionate care, opportunities to rebuild his future, and the help to return to school to become a personal support worker. But none of that would have been possible without the transformative power of your love and generosity.
“The picture is brighter now,” he shares. “I’m more confident. And I know I can find work and hopefully get back on my feet.” The investment of caring donors is what makes stories like Fred’s possible.
Fred and others are finding hope, through the love of Jesus, when they walk through the doors at Scott Mission. Thank you for your partnership that is making a meaningful difference in the lives of men who find safe refuge in our shelter.
“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” – Proverbs 22:9, NIV
