Just saying the word “homeless” was tough for Andrew . . . and the year it took him to dig out would have been so much worse if not for the help he received from Scott Mission.
Your support gave Andrew a safety net that helped him find safe shelter off our city streets in the dead of winter. He received meals and food from our food bank. He spoke with our counsellors, attended church, and found the spiritual nurturing he needed to trust that God had a plan for him—and it wasn’t to freeze on the streets of Toronto.
“Thanks for the food and the people here at Scott Mission . . . they were so very kind. They’ve been nothing but helpful,” Andrew says.
“At Christmas, they gave me a neck warmer, clothes, and socks,” he says with a smile, remembering how much he needed those warm gifts during a bitter cold winter.
The future is bright for Andrew, who is hoping to find a good job that will anchor his fresh start in life. He is thankful to Scott Mission and to donors for the help and encouragement he has received. He says, “God bless you, and thank you so much. Thank you for the food, and church has been great. Thank you so much for everything.”
Thank you for sharing meals, help, and hope this summer! Your gift again today will provide meals and put hope in the hearts of people like Andrew. Every $4.25 meal you provide today could make all the difference for someone who desperately needs God’s mercy and love.
“God bless you, and thank you so much. Thank you for the food . . .”
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” —Luke 6:38 NIV
