“It feels right to help, especially in times like these.”

“When I was young, I heard about The Scott Mission, the work they did in downtown Toronto, and who they served,” Aaron says. “Through my church, we helped out with Thanksgiving dinners and sorting donations. For me, it was just obeying what Jesus told us to do for the poor, and it was awesome to see how the Mission created opportunities for people like us to be involved.”

When COVID-19 came to Toronto, Aaron wanted to help others and remembered the experiences of his youth. “The Scott Mission has a ministry to help with housing, a place to sleep, food to eat, basic necessities, and training so people can move out of poverty. They give the help that no one else is giving . . .

“During the pandemic, I reflected on what God has given me—I remembered my time at The Scott Mission and the people that served there. So, I decided to become a monthly donor. I wanted to make a commitment, not just a one-time gift,” Aaron says.

“It’s important to me to help the poor, and I’ve seen the Mission do it well. It feels good; it feels right to help, especially in times like these where there are growing needs and more people in need. I think it’s important that those who are blessed with resources share them with others.”
