A soft spot in his heart for The Scott Mission

Roy, a donor at Scott Mission

In December of last year, Roy came into the Scott Mission with a donation he had raised through a raffle he held. With the support of the Royal Canadian Legion branch he attends, they raised enough money for 118 meals.

The Scott Mission holds a soft spot in Roy’s heart.

When he first came to Toronto in the ’60’s, he would come to the Scott Mission at times for a meal. Because of the kindness he was shown as a newcomer to Toronto, Roy wants to help as much as he can.

As a part of a musical group, the Ulster Accordion Band, he enjoyed playing at fund-raising events and for groups like the veterans at Sunnybrook hospital, but due to Covid, opportunities to play are rare. He hopes to bring his group to the Mission at some point in the future when the protocols allow.

We are thankful for Roy, and all our donors. Your gift will reach neighbours who need help with housing, food, and hope. Thank you for partnering with us!
